Short "how to" on this image :-)
Lighting:
- Beauty Lighting: the main light created by the large softbox falls to the model from the top/front
- White reflector on the front/bottom of the model had lighten up the shadows (I think lighting ratio was 1/2)
- Two flashes were pointed to the white background. The background was overexposed to 1.5 stops to get pure white.
With this setup I've got soft, mostly shadow free lighting.
Essential steps in Photoshop:
- I converted the image to b/w using channel mixer. (I think I used 70% red and 30% green)
- To get soft focus effect I copied the background level, applied gausian blur on the new created level (just play with settings) and adjusted new level transparency to about 30-60% (you can also create second blur level with different gausian blur settings - just experiment here).
- In the levels dialog (Ctrl-L) I slightly shifted the black point (left triangle) to the right to lighten up the image. I also played with brightness (middle triangle).
- After that I created another level and drew round white vignette on it. Applied gaus blur on it to get nice smooth edges. (I also reduced the transparency of this level)
- In addition I did some little usual tweaking on the image, resized it and did unsharp mask.
